Meet Mrs. Housholder!
Mrs. Housholder is proud to serve as the general music teacher, Chorus director, and Musical Director at Shakerag Elementary School. As a native of the Metro-Atlanta area, Mrs. H grew up surrounded by a strong musical community and was actively involved in instrumental, choral, and theater performance throughout her educational career. She later pursued her passion by attending Young Harris College, where she received a full academic scholarship and supplemental music scholarship to complete her Bachelor of Music Education degree in 2015.
Mrs. H completed her Masters of Education in Instructional Technology through Kennesaw State University in 2020 and has an additional endorsement in Online Learning. She aspires to increase personalized learning in music by utilizing technology and giving her students greater opportunities to explore and create in music class. |
Since joining the Fulton County team, Mrs. Housholder has strived to continue her professional growth and seek leadership opportunities in the county. She currently serves Fulton County as a member of the Fine Arts Support Team (FAST), which provides support for and plans professional development for all the elementary music teachers in the county. She has also presented professional learning seminars at both the local and state level, including the Georgia Music Educators In-Service Conference in Athens, GA. Her greatest and most humbling accomplishment was when she was awarded 2018 Teacher of the Year from Heritage Elementary School and again awarded 2020 Teacher of the Year at Shakerag! Miss Petty is a member of NAfME, GMEA, and AOSA and has completed her Orff Certification, Feireabend First Steps in Music Certification, and Feireabend Conversational Solfege Certification.
